What is The "Earn-$-While-Saving-Lives" Fundraiser?
The "EARN-MONEY-WHILE-SAVING-LIVES" Fundraising Challenge is Fundraising Made Easy! Let me explain...
There is always a NEED for fundraising - whether for a school, sports team, dance club, camp, charity or any organization in need of funding for their cause. And yes, money can be raised by simply requesting donations, selling baked goods, plants, and various products. But, as a parent who has seen the need for funding for my children's activities (sports & school), as well and other community initiatives & causes (charities), and in speaking with parent volunteers who want to help out with fundraising, but sometimes don't know which fundraisers to choose or support, I wanted to be able to help out in a truly meaningful way, and make the process of fundraising EASY!
This means providing a fundraiser that is hassle-free & risk-free for the fundraising organizer to set up and start, and for the fundraising participants to support!
I wanted to provide a fundraising opportunity that would have multiple benefits including:
1. Easily generating cash for your cause, with the opportunity to scale your earnings without worrying about anything physical to have to ship or deliver or store or that has a limited shelf life!
2. A fundraiser in which you can set a realistic goal of how much money you will earn for your cause, know exactly when you will be paid, and complete the fundraiser in a limited time (so that the fundraiser does not drag on; no no no! you will promote it, sell it, and get your funding quickly!).
3. Allowing, even the busiest of fundraising participants e.g. parents, to feel that they can meaningfully contribute to a fundraiser without investing a lot of time and energy to support the fundraiser.
4. A "no-brainer, turnkey" fundraising choice for fundraising organizers to execute and for fundraising participants to support!
5. A headache-free fundraising set up process for fundraising organizers and a user-friendly registration process for the fundraising participants.
6. Encouraging both adults and youth to participate in the fundraiser. CardiacCrash offers CPR training for kids starting at age 11. Kids can also participate in Lifesaving School For Parents - for example, this is perfect for new babysitters! And it covers CPR training to save a baby, child and adults life - every age is covered!
7. Enabling everyone to spend more time with their loved ones, because of the confidence and knowledge gained from learning lifesaving skills - this fundraiser is not only easy to support, but is educational & lifesaving!
8. A fundraiser in which you are cheered on and supported! Need support or help or have questions! No problem! Simply email [email protected].
I wanted it to be a win-win! A win for the fundraiser with a stress-free fundraiser, and a win for the fundraising participants, who would learn critical lifesaving skills, which in turn would create safer communities and save more lives, as well as supporting their cause in a meaningful way with a low time commitment.
And just a side-note to all the parents reading this (as I know many of you are parents). In my opinion (as a Mom of 2 boys), selling donuts to raise funds for your cause for example, is sometimes necessary if that's one of only a few fundraising options available to you (I get, sometimes you just need to get the job done), but when you have a turnkey fundraising, option that is NOT FULL OF SUGAR, but instead is educational, impactful and acts as a "role model" fundraiser, by teaching kids & parents important life skills, that can save your loved ones life, the decision to choose this fundraiser to generate cash for your cause becomes a no-brainer!
So this is what the "EARN-MONEY-WHILE-SAVING-LIVES" Fundraising Challenge is all about! The more lives you and your community learn to save, the more funds that will be raised for your cause. Simply encourage your friends, family and community to learn lifesaving skills, by joining The CardiacCrash Experience and/or Lifesaving School For Parents, and a portion of the proceeds will go towards your fundraiser.
It's that easy! Now that's impactful! Are you in? Awesome! It's time to set up your "EARN-MONEY-WHILE-SAVING-LIVES" Fundraising Challenge.

What are the requirements to offer a virtual CardiacCrash session?
Outlined below are the virtual requirements for:
1. The Fundraising Organizer
2. The Fundraising Participant
The Fundraising Organizer:
Offering a virtual CardiacCrash session as part of your fundraiser to meet your fundraising goals is super simple, and requires ZERO additional effort from you, once you have completed the 8 S's to Set Up/Start your fundraiser (as outlined above).
Once the fundraising participant has registered for their virtual session, they will be sent informational & reminder emails leading up to their virtual session with the key information they require for their session.
Although you (the Fundraising Organizer), do not need to take further action for offering a virtual session, it is important that you are aware of what is required for your fundraising participants to join a virtual session. This is detailed in the next section below (The Fundraising Participant), and this is included in the FAQ section of the CardiacCrash information page, which fundraising participants will be directed to, in order to learn about and sign up for a session HERE
NOTE: If fundraising participants inquire about the virtual requirements, direct them to the FAQ on the CardiacCrash info page (thelifesavingcoach.com/heart), if they still have questions, direct them to email [email protected].
The Fundraising Participant:
Anyone can attend a virtual CardiacCrash session from anywhere - pretty awesome, right? You just need to ensure you have the right equipment to set you up for a successful session!
There are 2 requirements for a virtual session:
1. Technology Requirements
2. DIY Mannequin Requirements
Please ensure you have access to the appropriate technology & DIY supplies before signing up for CardiacCrash as follows:
1. Technology Requirements:
1. A stable internet connection.
2. An email address where you will receive session information and the zoom link to join.
3. A computer or laptop.
4. A webcam (which can be built into your computer or laptop); you just need the ability to angle it down so that you can practice CPR and your skills can be seen and evaluated.
5. Do NOT use virtual backgrounds, as these will not work when you are demonstrating your CPR skills.
6. Ensure you have adequate lighting so that you can be seen - daylight from a nearby window or some bright lights are recommended.
2. DIY Mannequin Requirements
Yes, you will need to create your own DO-IT-YOURSELF (DIY) Adult CPR mannequin - but don't worry this is super simple & fast - with items you likely already have in your home!
Watch the clip, which is taken from the DIY supplies set up video lesson inside Lifesaving School For Parents (my virtual infant & child CPR and choking training program). The video shows you options to set up a child mannequin, but the exact same mannequin can be used for practicing adult CPR skills in your CardiacCrash session. You can create your DIY mannequin with a bottle or with a toilet paper roll. The bottle option is recommended, but if this is not possible, then the toilet paper roll would be your second option (a large, thick roll of toilet paper works best!).

How To Prepare For Your Virtual Session?
Once you have registered, follow these 4 steps to prepare for your upcoming session.
Step 1: Regularly check your inbox for a series of reminder emails leading up to your session to ensure that you are ready for your session (including the date, time and zoom link). Look for emails from The Lifesaving Coach (check your spam folder if you do not see them).
Step 2: Bring the following to your CardiacCrash Session:
- Your DIY Mannequin
- A mat to kneel on to practice your CPR skills (optional)
- A hat (any kind of hat - you don't need to wear it to the session, just have it handy and its use will be explained in the session).
- Focus, attention and positive energy; be ready to immerse yourself in the CardiacCrash Experience for 1 hour. Turn off your phone, notifications, close down tabs and eliminate distractions!
Step 3: Test your technology prior to the session (ideally a day in advance to ensure everything is working, as well as 15 minutes prior to your session). Ensure your webcam, video, lighting, audio, volume and internet connection are all working properly.
Step 4: Check your inbox 15 minutes prior to your session for an email from The Lifesaving Coach with your zoom link, and be prepared to open the zoom link when your session starts, or a few minutes prior (please avoid being late).
What are the requirements to offer an in-person CardiacCrash session?
Outlined below are the in-person requirements for:
1. The Fundraising Organizer
2. The Fundraising Participant
The Fundraising Organizer:
Offering an in-person CardiacCrash session as part of your fundraiser to meet your fundraising goals, requires just a few extra steps, in additional to the 8 S's to Set Up/Start your fundraiser, which includes securing an appropriate location to host the session.
The Fundraising Organizer (you), has 2 options for facilitating an in-person session.
1. Offer the session at your location.
2. Offer the session at another location.
Regardless, of where the session is hosted, these are the in-person session delivery requirements:
1. A room large enough to host up to 40 participants, plus 1 instructor, and up to 10 mannequins for CPR practice (supplied by the instructor).
2. 40 chairs for the participants and 1 chair for the instructor.
3. 1 table for the instructor to place computer, mouse & materials.
4. A good internet connection with streaming capability; you will need to provide the instructor with internet passwords or login information.
5. A large screen or a large blank wall to project the CardiacCrash Film.
6. A projector or connection (physical cord or wireless) to the screen.
7. Audio Equipment - good sound system or external speakers.
8. Microphone (if required based on the room & group size).
9. Good lighting for film viewability (ideally lights can be dimmed while the film is playing).
10. House keeping items: be able to share with the instructor where to find the washrooms, fire exits and an AED, so that this can be communicated to the participants.
A NOTE ABOUT SET UP:
The Lifesaving Coach will arrive approximately 1 hour prior to the session start time. A designated fundraising organizer needs to let The Lifesaving Coach into the facility and into the location where the session will be held, and provide a briefing on how to use the presentation equipment. Once on site, The Lifesaving Coach will set up the chairs and the room, as there is a specific lay out format required, in order to place the participants into two teams and have them quickly access the mannequins for CPR practice, and easily view the film. Fundraising participants should arrive 5 minutes prior to the session, to take their seats, so that The CardiacCrash Experience can begin promptly at the session start time.
Now let's review the 2 in-person session delivery options in detail:
1. Offer the sessions at your location
If your location meets all of the session deliver requirements, then that is the perfect location to host your in-person sessions!
2. Offer the sessions at another location
If your location doesn't meet all of the session delivery requirements, or you don't have a location to host a session, you may opt to rent a facility in your community, such as a room in your local library, church or community centre. The fundraising organizer is responsible for organizing and covering the fees for the room rental.
When you get to Step 6 (Set Up Your Unique Fundraiser), you will be instructed to select and reserve your CardiacCrash sessions. If you will run your sessions at your location, then go ahead and reserve your sessions. However, if you don't have the appropriate location, and you're unsure of what other location options are available for you, and you want to book an in-person session, then please email [email protected] to review potential options for you.
Final Instructions for in-person session reservations...
For all in-person session reservations, you can expect to receive an email from The Lifesaving Coach (after you have reserved the sessions in step 6), to confirm that you have the appropriate in-person session delivery requirements, and to confirm that you are in a location that The Lifesaving Coach will travel to (Simcoe County & within the GTA in Ontario, Canada). Once this is all confirmed, your Unique Fundraiser will be set up so that your fundraising participants can sign up.
It is important that the Fundraising Organizer (you), is aware of what is required for your fundraising participants to join an in-person session. This is detailed in the next section (The Fundraising Participant), and this is included in the FAQ section of the CardiacCrash information page, which fundraising participants will be directed to, in order to learn about and sign up for a session HERE
The Fundraising Participant:
To be ready for a successful in-person CardiaCrash session, follow these steps:
Step 1: Regularly check your inbox for a series of reminder emails leading up to your session to ensure that you are ready for your session (including the date, time and location details). Look for emails from The Lifesaving Coach (check your spam folder if you do not see them).
Step 2: Bring the following to your CardiacCrash Session:
- A hat (any kind of hat - you don't need to wear it to the session, just have it handy and its use will be explained in the session).
- Focus, attention and positive energy; be ready to immerse yourself in the CardiacCrash Experience for 1 hour. Turn off your phone, notifications and eliminate distractions!
How can I raise funds for my cause?
As part of your fundraising set up, you will define your fundraising goal (5: Set Up Your Fundraising Goal HERE), and your Fundraising Participants will help you achieve or exceed this goal, and benefit your cause, by participating in your 26-day fundraiser.
When your Fundraising Participates join a CardiacCrash session, a portion (20%), of the amount they paid for the session ($25), goes towards your cause. And when your Fundraising Participates join Lifesaving School For Parents, a portion (20%), of the amount they paid for lifetime access to the program ($67.90), goes towards your cause.
As you can see, this can add up quickly to help you easily generate cash for you cause (a school or sports team fundraiser, a charity or other), while making an impact by helping to save more lives in your community!
Why should I support this fundraiser?
There are 2 reasons you should support this fundraiser:
1. For your loved ones
2. To feel good about contributing to your cause - even if you're busy!
Let me explain...
1. For your loved ones:
Do you have a loved one? Seriously? Do you love someone? A baby, a child, a spouse, a parent, a sister, a brother, a grandparent, a friend? They are the reason WHY you should start and support this fundraiser!
There is a disproportionate gap between people believing lifesaving skills are important to know and actually taking first aid training! As a result, over 80% of people would not be prepared to take action in an emergency to save your loved one - and that likely includes YOU not being prepared to save YOUR loved one! This fundraiser was designed to change that, so that you can save your loved one or someone else' loved one - and that means more time spent with loved ones, instead of regretting not knowing and remembering lifesaving skills, when an emergency strikes, and seconds matter!
2. To feel good about contributing to your cause - even if you're busy!:
I was speaking to a Mom, who is the Treasurer for her children's school parent council. Prior to joining the parent council, she hesitated, because she is very busy and didn't want to over commit her time. Once she became a member of the executive council, she realized that many parents felt the same way; they wanted to help, but they lived hectic lives and didn't want to over commit, so instead they decided NOT to join or support the school council, which desperately needed help and volunteers. That school year, the council decided to communicate to all parents/guardians, that they didn't need to commit a lot of time to the parent council, but if every parent could commit just one or a few hours, that those hours would have a tremendous impact on the council and how it could help the school and benefit the children. As a result, there was a surge in support from the parent community with many parents contributing one or a few hours of their time e.g. delivering pizza to the classrooms for a few days. When everyone helps out, just a little bit, that can have a large impact vs. only a few people doing everything and being overwhelmed and maxed out.
The lesson from this story applies to you and to your cause. I know that many of you are very busy, and tired and overwhelmed, and although a part of you would love to help out your child's school, sports team, dance club, camp or a charity, like the Breast Cancer Society, The Diabetes Foundation, The Epilepsy Foundation etc., you often don't take any action, for fear of over commitment - I get it - but it doesn't have to be this way! That's exactly why I designed this fundraiser to be simple, cost-effective, a low time and energy commitment, and with options to join a session virtually or in-person (CardiacCrash) and/or to learn at your pace with lifetime access (Lifesaving School For Parents).
There is something for everyone, and it doesn't have to take up a lot of your time, yet the impact you can make is HUGE! Not only can you contribute to generating cash for your cause, but you'll also learn how to save a loved one (your loved one or someone else's loved), and you'll contribute to making your community a safer place for everyone. Impactful & Priceless - Right?
I see you, I get you! I know that many of you are busy parents, just like me, and we want to help, but we also need to preserve our time and energy for our families and our own well-being. I designed this fundraiser with you in mind. If you can commit just 1 hour or a few hours, then you can make an impact and feel amazing about your contribution! There are various options for you to help, and you can even participate from the comfort of your home!
Remember, your WHY is bigger than your excuses (I'm too tired, I'm too busy, I'm on a budget). If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way, if not, you’ll find an excuse!
So, if your loved ones are more important than your excuses and if contributing to your cause and your community is more important than your excuses, then it's time to set up/start/support this fundraiser!
You CAN make an impact - even if you're busy! Let's Do This!
It's your time to commit YOUR 1 hour to a CardiacCrash session (or sign up your child or encourage others to register), and/or commit a few hours, on your own schedule, to become a student of Lifesaving School For Parents, (or encourage others to join), so that you and your community can Learn & Earn for your cause! Get Started HERE!
What/Who is The Lifesaving Coach?
Hey There! I'm Judy, The Lifesaving Coach. I'm a Mom of 2 boys, and a certified CPR Instructor, with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (the leader in lifesaving education), teaching lifesaving skills to parents, the general public and healthcare professionals for over 25 years. The Lifesaving Coach offers certification and non-certification programs, with Lifesaving School For Parents being the Flagship Program which is completely online and accessible globally.
After having my own children, I realized that I was prepared for a life-threatening emergency, but most parents are not. Instead parents worry about emergencies, and then panic and freeze when an emergency strikes. I wanted to put an end to this! EVERY parent is capable of jumping into action calmly and confidently to help save their child's life at any age or stage - they just need to be properly educated, and as a result, Lifesaving School For Parents was born!
But I also knew, that in addition to being able to save your baby or child's life, most people are NOT prepared to save an adult's life - your significant other, your Mom, your Dad, a grandparent, a friend, a co-worker or a stranger in the grocery store (everyone is someone's loved one), and not enough loved ones are being saved in a cardiac emergency! Why, because there is a significant gap between people's perception of the importance of taking CPR training, and actually taking the training. I also know that more than ever before, people are busy, tired and on a budget, so when CardiacCrash launched - a 1 hour crash course in lifesaving skills, with both in-person and virtual options - I knew that this was the perfect solution to help members of every community, starting at age 11, to easily, conveniently and cost-effectively learn CPR. And by combining this with a fundraiser and a limited time to join, I knew that this was the motivation people needed to kickstart or refresh their lifesaving skills, so that more loved ones could be saved.
Even though nearly 98% of people believe that knowing how to perform CPR is important, over 80% have not taken first aid training within the last three years (coupled with the fact that lifesaving skills retention starts to decay in as little as 3 months) - therefore the majority of people would NOT take appropriate action in an emergency! But I'm here to change this! I'm on a mission to reach and teach lifesaving skills to as many people as possible, easily and conveniently, and in an engaging, fun and gamified format, so that people not only believe CPR training is important, but that they actually get trained! This will lead to more people knowing, remembering and having the confidence to perform CPR when a cardiac emergency strikes - creating safer communities and more time spent with loved ones!
The Lifesaving Coach is all about giving you the confidence and courage to take action in an emergency! In fact, I'm so passionate about this, that I've created a movement! The "I-CAN-SAVE-A-LIFE" movement is here! Say NO to Freezing & Panicking, say YES to taking action calmly & confidently! Together, we can build a new generation of Lifesavers! Are you in? Awesome! Get started by setting up/starting a Fundraiser for your school, your sports team, your club, your charity or any event or initiative that requires funding. Let's get your community learning and earning for your cause by encouraging them to participate in The CardiacCrash Experience and Lifesaving School For Parents. It's a win-win for your cause and your community - build lifesaving confidence with The Lifesaving Coach!
